How to improve workplace focus
Focus at work is a smaller set of tools for a set of hours. It is not a personality score. Putting off the real task is often an open browser, a chat that never closes, or a day with no edge.
A week-long trial
- Name the hours. A fixed or flexible schedule gives the day a start and a stop.
- Name the tools that count. Class apps and sites as productive, unproductive or neutral, and write your own rules where the default is wrong.
- Close the sites that do not belong in those hours. Website blocking in Chrome and Edge is included from Work Activity Tracking upward.
- Read one day, not a month of guilt. The dashboard shows where the active time went.
- Mark meetings and breaks, so time away from the keyboard is not treated as idling.
Procrastination and the record
Seeing the afternoon in one website does not fix the habit. It makes the habit visible to the person and, where the role allows, to their manager. The next step is a smaller block of the real work, not a lecture from the software. Mycroscope does not run a coaching chat. On Productivity Optimization it can write a report from figures already stored.
