What Mycroscope records

15 October 2026

Mycroscope is a record of computer activity that a company has chosen to keep, and that each employee acknowledges in a monitoring notice. The desktop app does not photograph the screen.

What is stored

For each stretch of time the app can store the application name, the website, and whether the person was active, idle or away. If the company turns it on, the notice can also include the window title and the full web address. Meetings, calls, breaks and other time away from the computer can be added by the employee when that prompt is switched on.

On Workforce Management, names and sizes of files copied to a USB drive, a cloud folder or a network drive can be stored. The contents of those files are not read. A phone connection can be noted. Files copied onto the phone itself are not listed.

Who can open it

An employee can open their own activity on every plan, including Free. Managers see the people they are allowed to manage. Opening another person’s detail is written to the audit log. Mycroscope operators can manage the account. They cannot read the activity.

How long it stays

Free keeps 30 days. Work Activity Tracking and Workforce Management keep six months. Productivity Optimization keeps 12 months. The owner can choose a shorter period. A shorter period hides older charts.
